A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

I was really struggling with writing my performance appraisal at work this morning. Shocking, I know, for as much as I like to talk about myself! And of course, today is the deadline. I have only known about this for months. Heaven forbid I leave myself a little buffer of time. I am the Queen of the Procrastinators. Sheesh!

It is a pretty quiet week in the office, so I decided to go for a walk at lunch. I checked my Fitness Forecast and it confirmed that it was the perfect day for a vigorous walk over the noon hour. (Relatively) low humidity? Yes, please!

Besides, Gray's Lake is within walking distance, which makes for an idyllic backdrop for my mid-day sweat session.

Really, how could I go wrong?

My lunch walk rocked and my trusty heart rate monitor told me that I burned 500 calories. Score! I am pretty sure was wrong. My walk wasn't a 9. It was a 10!

It also must have jarred something loose and I was able to fly through the rest of the my review. Hurray! Let's hear it for endorphins!

Tell me...
What helps you mentally "jar something loose"?

  1. Nice! I wish I had the opportunity to walk in the middle of my workday :/ Running definitely helps to unjar things, and - strange as it sounds - coloring!

  2. For me, long, slow breaths - plenty of those. I'm curious which heart rate monitor you use or recommend. New to your blog so I'll look around to see if you talk about it another post.

  3. Hana, thanks for stopping by! I use a Polar F4 heart rate monitor. I like it, but if I had to do it again, I would probably get a Polar F6. That model shows time, heart rate and calories burned on the display. The F4 only shows 2 of the 3 at the same time.

  4. Hey "a little bit fit", your husband and I enjoy going for a drink at the mile to jog things loose. Unfortunately, those beer calories don't do much for our physique :(
